The accompanying guide will guide you step by step through accurate readings for your own or others’ use and explain the general meaning of each card.
A. E. Waite, the creator of the world’s most influential Tarot deck, was a spiritual seeker and mystic who supported himself with freelance translation and writing. In 1889, he published one of the first books in English on how to read tarot. In 1909, he created the Rider Waite Tarot in collaboration with Pamela Colman Smith, and wrote the accompanying book, The Pictorial Key to Tarot (PKT).
Pamela Colman Smith was born in London to American parents and spent part of her childhood in Jamaica.
In 1909, Waite paid Smith a flat fee for illustrating his Tarot deck. He chose her for the job because of her talent, their common membership in the Golden Dawn, and because he believed her clairvoyant abilities would help her perceive the higher mystical truths he was attempting to convey with his deck.
Handmade Policy: I purchased these cards for a huge shop I had in the flea market in 2000 and they were considered Pocket Editions.
